Tranquil places

Tranquillity is important for everyone – for our hearts, minds and bodies.

It is our belief that more importance has to be placed on tranquillity. CPRE North Yorkshire campaigns to protect the tranquillity of our countryside both within and outside the two National Parks in the county.

Everyone needs a place to relax and enjoy nature.

The time we spend in peaceful green spaces has important benefits for our mood and wellbeing. That’s why we’ve identified the most tranquil places in our countryside, to make sure they’re protected so everyone can have somewhere to relax and connect with nature.

Places that make us feel tranquil take us away from the stresses and strains of everyday life and help us to relax — but they face a multitude of threats and are shrinking in size. We have developed a new method of mapping tranquil areas.
