School writing competition 2020 -2021

We have just launched our school writing competition 2020 – 2021 – “My North Yorkshire During Lockdown”

Thank you to all the school that took part last year across North Yorkshire – we had over 600 entries! The judges and trustees enjoyed reading all the detailed stories and seeing the wonderful artwork from all the children.

I hope you managed to enjoy viewing all the entries on our website.

Well done to all the 2019 winners!!

CPRE North Yorkshire have invited all Primary Schools in North Yorkshire to take part in our primary school’s writing competition 2020 -2021.  We understand that due to the current restrictions in place how you introduce this year’s competition prior to the official ‘summer holiday period’ may differ from previous years. Further, we have adapted the competition slightly to accord with the current climate and hope it can still be used to encourage people to ‘go outside’ either to their own gardens, community parks or as restrictions ease, within their local North Yorkshire countryside and coast.

Children would then hopefully gain ideas for their entry by spending time in the North Yorkshire countryside during the Lockdown with their family. On their return to formal lessons, time would be spent as a class or via home-learning, creating their entry, before a collective submission is sent to us by the deadline of Friday 23rd October 2020.

Send in your thoughts if you think one particular story stands out as a winner.  We shall be donating £400 to the winning school and a book token to the winning entries although we really think they are all winners.

Is your school interested?
